Hollyoaks

After leaving the long-running soap Hollyoaks – The legendary Hollyoaks actress has decided to step away from the entertainment industry limelight. What made her do so?

Sinead Moynihan was a household name back in the day when her character on the hit soap was part of a huge storyline that gripped viewers in the UK - but she's now quit acting

Former Hollyoaks actress Sinead Moynihan was a well-known figure when her character in the popular soap opera was involved in a major storyline that captivated UK viewers.

However, after her time on the show, the actress chose to leave the glitz and glamour of showbiz behind and pursue a completely different career path. Sinead, 42, played the role of Beth Clement on the hit Channel 4 soap in 2007.

Her character shocked audiences when she got entangled in a scandalous incestuous relationship with her half-brother Rhys. The controversial storyline catapulted Sinead into the limelight, making her a household name.

Despite her fame, Sinead decided to step away from the world of entertainment and instead focused on raising her two sons and carving out a new career for herself. Transitioning into the financial sector, Sinead is now a mortgage broker.

The former model and soap star was hired by a company named Asstez Capital, known as one of the ‘UK’s leading property finance lenders’, where she serves as a Relationship Director. Despite her character Beth’s popularity, which ended tragically in a car crash on Hollyoaks in 2008, Sinead found it difficult to secure further acting roles, reports the Mirror.

The fiercely competitive industry saw her fighting to secure roles and maintain her acting career. Sinead started as a model at 16, transitioning into acting at 24 with a role in BBC Three’s drama Drop Dead Gorgeous.

She then landed the part of Beth in Hollyoaks, where she stayed until her character met a gruesome end in 2008. After that, she returned to BBC 3 for a brief stint in the sitcom How Not to Live your Life.

Post that role, Sinead managed to book a few adverts but struggled to find substantial acting roles, with work eventually drying up entirely. She then chose to focus on motherhood, having welcomed two children in her 20s, her sons Dylan, 21 and Jacob, 15.

Sinead is among many stars who have quit acting after starring in Hollyoaks over the years. Sophie Porley – known as Ellie Nightingale on the show – recently revealed how she had to end her TV career after leaving the hit Channel 4 soap due to “too much pressure” to secure another role.
