Neighbours spoiler: Karl is left unsettled on his last day
As everyone waits for Karl to arrive to his surprise party, Remi receives a text from him cancelling their catch-up. Susan is dismayed that her husband has rejected the bait, but with the help of Aaron, she manages to win Karl over for a ‘dinner’ at The Waterhole.
Karl is thrilled as he’s welcomed into the celebration in his honour. Lapping up the appreciation, Karl makes a speech, expressing gratitude that he is able to hand the baton on to skilful Remi.
An unfiltered Gavin tells Karl he’d like to get physical with Remi and her wife Cara, making Karl feel extremely uncomfortable. He decides to report Gavin’s comments to HR but decides it’s best if Remi remains unaware.
Meanwhile, Toadie is all remorse after his kiss faux pas, while an overwhelmed Terese thinks they should discuss it after Karl’s surprise party. Susan, hoping to address simmering work tension, puts her own needs on hold to encourage Terese to be patient in allowing Toadie to win back her trust.
Later, Terese confesses to Toadie that she’s not ready for physical affection and is grateful when Toadie agrees to move slower and follow her lead.
Elsewhere, visiting Haz but denied entry to his room, Mackenzie is stunned to learn that Haz’s sister Amira has arrived. Amira, realising that Mackenzie is the ex who put Haz into a coma, restricts Mackenzie’s access.
Mackenzie, devastated to be shut out, seeks Holly’s counsel. Holly encourages her not to back down. Mackenzie returns to state her case, but Amira pushes back, harbouring guilt for her absence in her brother’s life.
As their fight escalates, the women are thrown by an unexpected interruption as a croaky Haz awakes from his coma. After Gavin assesses that Haz is recovering well, Amira maintains that only family can see Haz. Haz is overwhelmed to see his estranged sister but is also keen to see Mackenzie.
Later, Mackenzie steals a moment with Haz, admitting that while she is still processing his past, she still has feelings for him. Haz declares his love, asking if they have a chance at being together again. Amira interrupts before Mackenzie can respond.
