The Bachelor’s Nick Viall ‘hopes’ his daughter will think reality TV is ‘beneath her’ in future
Although Nick Viall soared to fame as a reality TV star on The Bachelor, he hopes his daughter, River, will not follow his path. When asked how he’d feel, he said he hopes she’ll think it’s “beneath her”.
He finished as runner-up in two consecutive seasons of The Bachelorette. However, Nick Viall’s experience of being on reality TV means he plans to “give her the ick” if his daughter ever considers copying him.
Nick Viall hopes daughter won’t copy
Nick Viall said he “hopes” his daughter, River, will “think reality TV is beneath her”. He told SiriusXM, “I hope I do a good enough job parenting that she is, that her options supersede reality TV.”
Addressing how he’s built a platform of reality TV, Viall added, “Well, maybe it’ll be like a teaching tool because I imagine that I’ll give her the ick if she watches a couple of the seasons that I was on.”
“I hope at the end of the day, we do a good enough job parenting that she’ll, you know, make good decisions for herself and as soon as she turns 18, you know, ultimately our job is done,” he added.
Doing family TV show is ‘hard no’
Nick was approached to film a reality TV family show, but it’s a “hard no” for him. “I think to be a reality TV star, you have to talk about personal stuff and that’s not easy to do and fans can be intrusive,” he said.
Viall added, “I’m just way too protective of my family,” adding that recurring cast members such as on Vanderpump Rules and the Real Housewives franchises often involves facing “tough” comments.
“I’m not aware of many relationships that have survived reality TV. You can’t have good reality TV without drama. I’m not interested in trying to introduce unnecessary drama into my relationship,” he continued.
Nick’s daughter ‘gives him purpose’
Nick’s four-month-old daughter, River Rose Viall, who he shares with fiancee Natalie Joy, “gives him purpose”. They welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, the couple announced February 5.
On April 27, 2024, the couple exchanged vows at Joy’s family farm in Georgia. They even brought along their baby girl, who fans say looks a lot like him, as they embarked on their honeymoon!
During their honeymoon, Nick wrote on a post, “I can’t wait to tell her about the past few weeks,” and in another, he said of his wife, “Every day I have the gift of watching you be the most amazing mother.”
